Core Values
-
This is an indispensable element of coaching/advisory. Clients must have trust to truly open up about their challenges and emotions – to get to the root issue and to ensure their commitment to action.
Bruce gains trust by being ethical, being an excellent and empathic listener, using both support and challenge with the client, and providing the client with insights and suggestions that advance their development and success.
-
For coaching/advisory with leaders, these skills result in better dialogue and pragmatic outcomes:
Coaching: Using questions, intuition, listening, selective challenging, supporting, and integrating insights
Leadership Development: Helping leaders gain skills through action learning, feedback, and training
Talent Management: How to attract, retain, motivate, organize and plan to achieve a high performing workforce
Business Performance: Understanding financial, operational, strategic, and political aspects of business
-
This means that Bruce is able to build trust, understanding, and effective styles of communication and accountability with the client—-so that the dialogue with the client is open and results in tangible/transformative insights and actions. Relationship builds over time but Bruce can accelerate this through the following:
Effective discovery at the beginning to understand the client, challenges and objectives
Ethical behavior such as confidentiality and follow-through
Listening, using the client’s own words, accurately reflecting back the client’s thoughts and feelings
Quality observations and suggestions, based on the client and depth of experience/expertise
Having success in early sessions and then building
-
This is the ability to read people and situations accurately and with nuance. Bruce will seek to ask a powerful question at exactly the right time, will know when to summarize what has been discussed, will challenge the client in the right way and at the right time, and will know when/how to suggest what the client should do.
Effective Intuition allows Bruce to help clients find clarity and insight faster, to pursue a challenge or limiting belief more deeply, and to find a solution to which the client is more motivated to implement.
-
Pragmatic means that the coaching/advisory is not just to have interesting discussions, but rather is focused on tangible solutions and outcomes. Many of the areas discussed in coaching can seem ambiguous or soft, so Bruce is committed to helping the client be specific, clear and outcome-oriented.
Overall, Bruce seeks to have the result of his coaching/advisory make a tangible difference in the client’s leadership behavior, impact and well-being. Pragmatic also means that for whatever solutions are pursued, the client is prepared to overcome barriers and have best chances of success.
